PHA beefs up PNP NCRPO’s CPR program

The Philippine National Police NCR Police Office (NCRPO) and the Philippine Heart Association (PHA) found an ally in each other.

Today, 50 nurse-cops attended the Training the Trainers Basic Life Support Training at Camp Karingal, Sikatuna Village, Quezon City. Tomorrow, the second batch of 50 nurses will undergo training in the same venue.

According to NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas, they have a series of high-impact projects. One of them is the CARE Program which includes the 1- and 4-minute exercises conceived by celebrity Coaches Jim and Toni Saret called “Galaw-Galaw para sa COVID” which promotes health and wellness especially in the time of pandemic.”

The Sarets are the Ambassadors of the PHA Healthy Lifestyle 52100 Campaign.

The lecturers/facilitators were PHA President Dr. Orlando Bugarin and Dr. Alex Reyes, member of the PHA Council on CPR. They were assisted by emergency medical technicians during the return demo and exams. PHA Director Dr. Rodney Jimenez gave an overview of CPR-Ready.Ph and urged the newly-minted CPR trainers to keep the campaign going.

Leading the PHA team tomorrow is PHA Director Dr. Luigi Pierre Segundo, who is concurrent Advocacy Committee chair.

The PHA has been conducting CPR trainings in PNP camps all over the country since 2017. Even at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, from March to present, the PHA Council on CPR has been conducting virtual CPR trainings.

This is the first face-to-face BLS lecture-demo that the PHA is holding under the new normal landscape.
