The PHA Council on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation continued on its CPR Caravan program of promoting education and training in resuscitation science across the islands.
 
The Council, led by members Dr. Francis Lavapie and Dr. Nestor Bagsit, and Ronald Grande held its first ACLS training course at St. Paul University, Philippines in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, last January 9-11, 2009. Thirty participants, all nurses, attended and completed the course.
 
At The Medical City, 59 participants - 3rd Year and 1st Year residents of The Medical City Hospital, underwent ACLS Training conducted by the Council last January 21-23, 25-27, and 31, 2009. The trainors included Council members Drs. Raul Ramboyong, Albert Hans Bautista, Victor Lazaro, Mariann Almajar, Rosalyn Sarmiento, Paulo Prado, Michaelangelo Sabas, Gina Alemany, Eric Pascual, Jude Erric Cinco, and Jose Emmanuel Palo.
 
35 Consultants, Residents and Nurses of the Batangas Regional Hospital, Batangas City took the BLS-ACLS Training Course last January 28-30, 2009. Facilitators were Council Trainors Drs. Ardith Dominguez-Tan of De La Salle University Medical Center, Carlos De las Llagas of St Lukes Medical Center,  Council Chair Marcellus Francis Ramirez, Andrew Francisco, Nestor Lino Bagsit and Floydecielles Jasmin, of UST Hospital.
 
32 nurses of the Fresenius Dialysis Center in Makati City celebrated their Valentines weekend last February 13-14, 2009 with a dose of the ACLS training led by CPR Council Trainors Drs. Melco Perez, Joseph Hope Cal, Leah Polidario, Mariann Almajar, Gay Marjorie Obrado, Alvin Dela Cruz, Victor Lazaro, and Ramirez.
 
A second staging of the PHA-GKare Emergency Community Healthcare Training Course was held last February 21, 2009 at the Philippine Heart Center, with the CPR Council again actively involved in the lectures and workshops. Council Members Drs. Eduardo Tin Hay, Gerard Razon and Regidor Encabo, along with Ronald Grande, conducted lectures on different medical emergencies for healthcare workers, as well as facilitated the lecture and practical examination in basic life support, for 36 Gawad Kalinga healthcare volunteers.
