The Council on Preventive Cardiology focuses on population-based strategies in preventing cardiovascular diseases and improving cardiovascular health. Its program focuses on preventive cardiology through stronger advocacy and health education campaigns on healthy lifestyle. It covers a broad range of interrelated activities, collaborating actively with other Councils to achieve its goals.

Recently, it has disseminated clinical practice guidelines for the management of dyslipidemias in the local setting, as well as issued scientific statements on controversial health issues. Included in its current thrusts is the education of lay people on the different cardiovascular risk factors.
