Multi-sectoral partners mark WHD 2015 with Bgy. Socorro folk
People from the cardiovascular world, politics, government and sports celebrated World Heart Day (WHD) 2015 with the residents (adults and students) of Bgy. Sororro, 15th Ave., Cubao, Quezon City under the leadership of its Barangay Captain Joey de Guzman. At least 30 PHA members were joined by Cong. Rep. Guiao (1st Dist., Pampanga); Pag-Ibig President Atty. Darlene Berberabe, Jamie Lim, Berberabe’s daughter with ex-husband basketball legend Samboy Lim; celebrity wellness coach Jim and coach Toni Saret, and rapper God’s Will graced the event. Bridging Nations, Forging Ties and Sharing Knowledge: The 2015 ESC Grand Courses

Last September 23 to 24 2015, the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and the Philippine Heart Association (PHA) jointly organized and conducted the course, “The Cardiovascular Disease Continuum in the Era of Evidence-Based Medicine”, at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel. With shared goals of reducing the burden of cardiovascular disease and fighting inequalities and disparities of patient accessibility to modern medicine thru dissemination of scientific knowledge, the societies outlined a course that boasted of insightful and comprehensive lectures on the latest ESC Guidelines in arterial hypertension, HF (HF) and stable coronary artery disease, as well as an illustrious panel of respected speakers and facilitators in the field of cardiology, both from Europe and locally.

CPR training soon a graduation requirement
The House of Representatives has just passed the so-called Samboy Lim Bill that would make mandatory CPR (or cardio pulmonary resuscitation) training in schools nationwide, at least once before graduation, with the goal of saving more lives.
House Bill No. 5891 - otherwise known as the “CPR Training in Schools Act” - was approved on Sept. 15, 2015 by the Committee on Basic Education and Culture headed by Rep. Kimi Coseteng (5th District, Pangasinan).
