COMMUNITY OF HEROES: WORKING HAND IN HAND”

The Philippine Heart Association Council on Congenital Heart Disease in cooperation with the Philippine Society of Pediatric Cardiology, and in partnership with Phi Kappa Mu Fraternity, held  a fruitful and  and significant  5th  Camp Braveheart, entitled “Community of Heroes: working hand in hand”, on April 18, 2011 Monday,  at Meralco Management and Leadership Development Center (MMLDC) Km. 27 Sumulong highway, Antipolo City.

The Specialty Board of Adult Cardiology announces that a total of 24 out of 29 examinees (82.77%) passed the adult cardiology specialty board practical examinations held on April 16, 2011 at the Philippine Heart Center.

63% hurdle 2011 SBAC written examinations
 
The Specialty Board of Adult Cardiology announces that a total of 29 out of 46 examinees (63%) passed the adult cardiology specialty board written examinations held on April 9, 2011 at the Philippine Heart Center.

The 11th International Symposium on Modern Concepts in Endocarditis and Cardiovascular Infections (2011 ISCVID Symposium) will take place on July 24-26 , 2011 at the Sebel Hotel, in Cairns, Australia. Major topics include future directions for infective endocarditis, updates in rheumatic heart disease, cardiac device infections, vascular prostheses and mycotic aneurysms, prophylaxis guidelines and advanced surgical techniques.

The Chinese University of Hong Kong Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine & Therapeutics, in coordination with Mayo Clinic USA, will hold the CUHK-Mayo Clinic-Asia Cardiovascular Summit on March 26-27, Hong Kong. Consultants and trainees are invited to submit research abstracts for presentation. Accepted abstracts will be published as a supplement to the International Journal of Cardiology andabstract presenters will enjoy waiver on registration fees. PHA CLINCHES VISIONARY LEADERSHIP AWARD
PASAY CITY, Nov. 27, 2009—The Department of Health (DOH) and the Philippine Coalition for the Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases (PCPCNCD) conferred the “Special Trailblazer Visionary Leadership Award” on the Philippine Heart Association for being “the foremost and staunchest ally of the coalition in the promotion of Healthy Lifestyle”.

One of the objectives of the Philippine Heart Association is to improve the quality of cardiovascular care in the Philippines. Thus, the development of relevant clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) that are appropriate for the local Philippine setting has been one of the main thrusts of the PHA.

 

To fast-tract the development of these CPGs, the PHA in partnership with the Asia Pacific Center for Evidence-based Medicine (APCEBM) conducted a CPG Development Workshop at the Crown Regency Hotel, Ortigas Center, Pasig last August 22-23, 2009. Over 50 members representing the 16 councils, chapters and board members of the PHA attended the workshop.
